Xbox Live Indie Game appealing to the multiplayer market.
Why is this multiplayer market so important?
The multiplayer market seems to be one of the greater markets whether it be the premium gaming market or the Indie market. Multiplayer gaming has been one of the hottest phenomena over the past couple years and one of the greatest of these benefactors is the Nintendo Wii.
Microsoft and game developers have been designing more and more of these “party” games lately to keep up with the Wii’s sales in this particular sector. Guitar Hero and Rockband are some of the key players in this sector on the Xbox 360. Premium games including those mentioned prior have been popping up more and more including some spin offs of Guitar Hero and Rockband including sequels and expansions. But what has the Indie market really shown?
Well the Indie market has been pulling for more and more of these “party” games. One mentioned in an earlier article is Duality: ZF. Incorporating more players into such simple, yet fun games is important for those who aren’t technical when it comes to gaming. Inviting a friend over who really doesn’t play video games that often to play World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings: Online may only hate you! Terms like “nerdy” or “geeky” aren’t scene when it comes to Guitar Hero and Rockband because of their “coolness” when it comes to casual gamers.
Casual gamers may find playing these party Indie games enjoyable because of the less amount of technicality involved and the fun they can promote. Who wants to be called nerdy anyways?
